AIVA Art Residency Program for Contemporary Jewellery

AIVA當代首飾藝術家駐留項目

 2018- 2019 

AIVA國際藝術視覺教育將在2018年下半年開放駐場藝術家計劃。

我們熱烈邀請在當代首飾方面有豐富經驗的創作者們來AIVA首飾工作室進行個人創作，有機會并加入我們的專業教學團隊。

從2018年下半年開始，我們計劃每年12月到次年5月邀請1位優秀的藝術家駐場。

 

駐場藝術家工作：

駐場時長：每年12月至次年5月

每周工作時間：12小時

工作內容：

1、開設2-4次面對大眾的特色工作坊；

2、與AIVA教學團隊一起參與全日制預科學生的學習指導；

3、其余時間在工作室進行個人創作。

 

 駐場藝術家可以獲得：

課程

1、免費參加AIVA金工教室每年舉辦的當代首飾大師班課程。

工作室

1、在AIVA金工教室擁有獨立的工作臺；

2、免費使用AIVA工作室器材設備與工具；

3、靈活使用空閑的創作空間。

推廣

1、在AIVA合作平臺進行個人推廣活動，如：上海當地的美術館、畫廊合作講座或工作坊；進行高校學術講座等等；

2、在駐地期間，AIVA提供個人作品展覽的機會。

1. 一篇簡短的Artist Statement、駐場期間個人創作計劃、工作坊規劃；

2. 個人簡歷；

3. 三個不同系列的作品圖片（PDF格式遞交）。

專業首飾工作臺、噴砂機、吊機、專業焊臺、臺式鉆床、磁針拋光機、滾動拋光機、棉輪拋光機、超聲波清洗機、熔金機、琺瑯爐、液壓機、壓片機、切片機......

常用手工工具等。

 

* 如個人創作或工作坊需要額外的器械與工具，可經商量后額外添置。

 

 

Introduction to the AIVA Art Residency Program

 

Academy of International Visual Arts (AIVA), founded in 2005, is an independent art and design institution located in central Shanghai, China. 

It has expanded into a creative and cultural hub in the last decade with studios, exhibition space, and a dedicated jewellery studio.

 

We are warmly welcome contemporary jewellery artists and designers to apply our Art Residency Program. This interdisciplinary and intercultural program encourages people come from different backgrounds to work in our Jewellery Studio. Every year we would like to invite 1 jeweller at AIVA start from this December to next May.

 

The resident will have some of your time teaching our foundation classes to have tutorial with our students or delivery workshop and lectures. We also offer opportunity to joint our other skill workshop or master classes conducted by other invited jewellery artists in studio. AIVA will also strongly provide you with different platforms for personal promotion activities, such as local museums and art galleries in Shanghai or having lectures in other colleges etc. 

 

We believe this new environment and culture will bring plenty of inspiration to you and it will be a great chance to develop your personal works in new perspective. During or at the end of your journey at AIVA, will have the opportunity to hold a solo exhibition in our gallery space.

Residency Program

The AIVA Art Residency is aimed at attracted and young and talented artist or designers to develop intercultural, experimental and unique work. We hope this opportunity would offer resident a bran-new experience.

 

Residents in this category are required to:

● Provide own spending expenses

● Provide own materials 

● Required to working hours of 12 hours per week

● Conduct 2 to 4 workshops (workshops can be repeated)

● Develop and make work for exhibition in our exhibition space

 

Residency Includes:

● Full Return Flight tickets (If not a local resident)

● Studio Space in the relevant studio, including equipment and tools appropriate to that studio.

● Accommodation provided, to be allocated one room and may share the kitchen, bathroom & living space with another resident.

● Promotional assistance at local galleries or Universities.

● Opportunity to teach or work additional (over 12 hours) time to generate income.

 

Workshop Specifics/Facilities

AIVA Jewellery Studio:

Jewellery benches, sand blaster machine, flexi-shafts, professional soldering benches, drill machine, magnetic tumbler, polishing motor, single barrel tumbler, melting machine, kiln, hydraulic press, rolling mill, bench cutter and other extensive range of hand tools.

 

Because of different skills and hobbies, if you can bring you own hand tools will be better. If you need other facilities or material for workshop, we will try our best to support you.

 

Application Process

For the 2018- 2019 round, all applications should submit an application form and include:

1. A Short-written proposal, describing the work to be carried out during the residency program. A proposal include 2 workshops will be in progress during the residency.

2. A current CV

3. Images of 3 previous collections. (PDF)
